Before

Before photo rejuvenation treatment, a consultation visit is recommended where your skin will be analyzed to decide on the ideal treatment that will work best for your skin type. At this visit, you can also share what your desires are for your skin and what you hope to achieve from this treatment.

During

The first step of the treatment is for your skin to be cleansed, and then your face will be mapped out or divided into small sections to ensure even coverage. Your eyes will be protected by goggles and your skin will be protected by a thin layer of gel. The photo rejuvenation hand piece is applied to the skin one pulse at a time, making you feel a sharp pinch with every pulse.

After

Following the procedure, it is crucial that you avoid the sun and wear sunblock for at least two weeks. This treatment will give your phenomenal results for a year or more, however, you must care for your skin and maintain a healthy skin regime on a regular basis, especially for the first few weeks post-treatment.

What is the duration of the procedure and what should I expect?

The treatment is usually between 20 minutes to one hour depending on the size and the condition of the area being treated. Quite often, this treatment is accompanied by a signature facial. The pulse feels like a momentary pinching sensation, and the treated lesions begin to darken as they are treated. Mild reddening and swelling could be an aftermath of the procedure, however, this typically subsides within a few hours. And generally, within 1-3 weeks of treatment, the darkened spots will fade away.

Will the spots return and how do I avoid new spots?

Although the spots treated will not reappear, new ones might form. In order to minimize the development of new spots, you should apply sunscreen regularly and avoid sun exposure during peak hours. Also, your skincare regime is quite important in maintaining a healthy and radiant-looking skin. Continued use of anti-oxidants will help in building up the skin’s natural look as well as protecting it from the sun’s harsh rays. It is worth mentioning that with any laser treatment, the skin tends to become more photo-sensitive for at least 2-3 weeks following.

How many treatments are necessary?

Every individual’s needs and desires are personal, and this is no different when it comes to cosmetics. Some are satisfied and achieve their desired look with 1 or 2 treatments, whereas some may choose to do a series of 3-6 treatments, once every 2-4 weeks. Damages caused by small telangiectasia, sun exposure, and photos can be treated exceptionally well, while moles and birthmarks may lighten but the pigment is too deep that the results might not be completely flawless and more treatments might be required.

Who is the best candidate for this treatment?

IPL or photo facial treatment is for everyone who is looking for a more radiant and glowing look. Multiple options are available targeting different skin types from low to high sensitive skins. However, whether sensitivity is an issue or not for you, it is imperative to have no sun exposure 3 weeks before the treatment to prevent adverse reactions. This treatment is not recommended for those who are pregnant, photosensitive, or are taking photosensitive medications.

What is Diffuse Redness?

General appearance of facial redness (i.e. rosy cheeks) is referred to as diffuse redness. The condition is caused by widened capillaries, causing an appearance of overall redness of the skin. The most commonly affected areas are the forehead, nose, and cheeks. Diffuse redness can be associated with a condition known as rosacea and it can be hereditary. Laser Genesis therapy may help your appearance by gently treating and reducing this condition.

What are the possible side effects?

There are minimal risks or side effects to this treatment, but the most common would be a slight redness which should subside within a few hours post treatment. If a vascular treatment proceeds a Genesis treatment, then some swelling might occur in the treated area.

Is the treatment painful?

This treatment is pain-free! Laser Genesis is not known to cause any discomfort and it is considered to be one of the safest, non-invasive treatments. Laser treatments, unlike any other, do not cause wounds in the skin’s surface thus, not requiring any additional post-treatment care. Typically, patients report this treatment to be gentle on the skin. No anaesthetics, creams or gels are required.

What does the Procedure Feel Like?

Patients describe this treatment as relaxing and therapeutic due to its gentle touch and warmth on the skin surface as the laser handpiece if glided inches about your skin. Immediate return to normal activities is expected after the treatment, using sunscreen as a means of protecting the treated skin
